NAKED ON THE INSIDE
by Kim Farrant, Documentary, 81', 2006, Digital Beta, AUSTRALIA

Naked on the inside comes at a time when the Western world has never been more obsessed with body image. This documentary asks only one, audacious, question: “Beyond your clothes and skin, who are you?” Different characters are thus interviewed: a devout woman, a Sunday school teacher who lives a covert life as a man; a professional dancer with no legs; a top model who struggles to maintain corporal perfection, never at ease under other people’s gaze… Superficially, they share nothing in common, but profound connections arise as each character reveals before the camera the discrepancy between looks and inner feelings.
