BABEL CAUCASE TOUJOURS !
by Mylène Sauloy, Documentary, 90', 2007, Beta SP, FRANCE

The story of the cultural solidarity caravan journey, Babel Caucase is a political road movie. The caravan left France in spring 2007 in order to stage and share cultural events in the Caucasus, with a last stop in Groznyy, finally prohibited by Russia, and sabotaged by France in full election campaign, this expedition became a true human adventure. Composed of eight trucks, and around fifty "committed artists" (cooks, musicians, dancers, scriptwriters...), this caravan furrowed Europe and was the source of incredible musical, pictorial, culinary heartwarming gatherings in the villages of Georgia. These artists also discovered the dark face of this voyage, such as "constrained refugee camps" that is to say Chechens forced into exile by Russia.
