WE WENT TO WONDERLAND

This documentary tells a journey to the west , by Guo Xiaolu’s parents. After une operation, her father is no longer able to speak and write his observations on paper. « The water is very tasty in the West » « The flowers on the grave of Marx have been dead for ages ! » « Where is the population in Europe ? ». While is wife looks at the House of Parliament, he gazes at the clouds floating by. And later, when they travel to Rome and walk through the Vatican, the mother still talks about English parks. He wants to see the whole word, but she wants to go home. The relationships in the family are full of tangible things that go without saying. Her film is a mirror for the West and takes a subtl look at relations between East and West.

XIAOLU GUO
Guo Xiaolu (1973) was born in China. She moved to Beijing and studied at the Film academy there. During this period, she started publishing poetry and novels. In China she worked as a scriptwriter, director, and journalist and taught film making. The Concrete Revolution (2004) showing in Créteil in Focus Asia (2005) was awarded in the world.
