Now, faced with his impending return for their wedding, she and her mother undertake a desperate journey to a drug treatment center in the countryside. This modern day portrayal of Iran’s new middle-class provides a stark and heartbreaking look at youth drug abuse in contemporary Iran.

Rakhshan Bani-Etemad was born in Tehran in 1954. After studying at the University of Dramatic Arts in Iran, she made several documentaries for Iranian TV, and in 1987 directed her first feature-film Off the Limits. Then, she directed about twenty movies, both documentary and features : The War Economic Planning (1981), Nargess (1991), The Blue Veiled (1994), Gilaneh (2005)….
